Here’s how to lead without micromanaging ⬇️
1. Set the outcome, not every step. Tell your team what success looks like. Let them figure out how to get there.
2. Define ownership clearly. If everyone is responsible, nobody is responsible. Every task needs one person who owns the result.
3. Build systems, not dependencies. SOPs, checklists and clear processes should answer the questions your team keeps bringing to you.
4. Create checkpoints, not constant check-ins. Agree on when you’ll review progress. Don’t keep asking, “Is it done yet?”
5. Let people make mistakes. If you correct every small thing before someone can learn, you’ll create a team that waits for instructions instead of taking initiative.
6. Hold people accountable for results. Autonomy without accountability is chaos. Give people freedom, but make expectations and consequences clear.
Save this for the next time you feel the urge to take over instead of delegate.
