So as an archery instructor (for Scouts) ignore that other guy having an issue with the drawing without an arrow. That only becomes a problem if you let it twang without an arrow. Science blah blah bad for the bow. The elbow bowing inwards is likely to be scuffed when you fire* an arrow. A tip is to not quite extend the arm when holding the bow. Use the muscles not the bones. (*fire and loose are both valid terms for firing an arrow)
