"We need to think more longer term."

Social Security benefits are set for a 3.6 percent bump by 2027, in spite of the national inflation crisis and consistently-low wages for the vast majority of the American workforce. Scott Galloway and Jessica Tarlov discuss, on Raging Moderates.

Average social security amount is $2087 in 2026. Take the cap off and put congress on social security. They need to live like the people they represent instead of the top 3%.

I love you guys, and agree there are some adult choices that need to be made, but am opposed to means testing. I paid into the system and as far as I’m concerned, the government has made a commitment to pay out, and my long term budgeting is counting on that income. Means testing is essentially a default on the agreement.

The debt was caused by the Reagan, W & trump tax cuts for the rich & unfunded wars, & you want to punish seniors to pay for it? Seriously? How about just eliminating the cap? And, reverse some of the tax cuts to the rich.

What is the salary of congress and the senate if you don’t mind my asking? Like all elitists, you treat seniors who live on the social security that was collected out of their working earnings as if poor people

Don’t forget @profgalloway words: * "I find it entirely unfair and not accurate to describe what's happening in Israel as a genocide…3% of the Gazan population has been killed, and typically a genocide doesn't involve shipping in polio vaccines, or 2,500 calories a day, or dropping leaflets, or leaving voicemails telling civilians to vacate an area where they have been purposely embedded in military targets… There's just a different standard for Jews in Israel when it comes to prosecuting a war, they're allowed to fight back to a truce, but unlike America or any other Western nation that is attacked this viciously, they're not allowed to win a war. It's a double standard.”

3.6% is nothing for the vast majority of retirees.

How much did Washington "borrow" from Social Security" ?? Has any of that been paid back ? IIRC, this started with Reagan, but he wasn't the last one.
