Happy belated heavenly bday to Bobby Weir (10/16). I never posted about my experience making 4 paintings for auction of the Bar Cross Ranch in Cora. I was elated when I learned of this assignment and the history of the ranch including an intimate tour. As a teenager in ‘63 Bob visited as a ranch hand here and spent his wages on his first acoustic guitar. He and John Perry Barlow, whose parents owned the ranch at the time, wrote several songs there including the popular Cassidy, Mexicali Blues & Looks Like Rain. I painted these a year after Weir produced the Blue Mountain album in 2016, reminiscing about his time at the ranch.
