I finally started Vicious by @veschwab and was met with the most interesting first line ever.
"Victor readjusted his shovels on his shoulder and stepped gingerly over an old, half-sunken grave."
It's the kind of opening line which makes you go "wait, what!!!". And I absolutely loved it.
