From qualifier/underdog to a WTA 1000 final—history made in Wuhan! 🇬🇧🎾🔥
Sonay Kartal's incredible run just keeps getting better! After taking down top competitors like Elina Svitolina earlier in the week, the British star fought off a barrage of winners and saved multiple set points in a dramatic straight-sets thriller against Jelena Ostapenko (7-6, 7-6).
With this sensational victory, Kartal joins an elite list as one of the lowest-ranked WTA-1000 finalists since 1990.
