American singer/songwriter Tanner Castille has released his new promotional single online.

“Dangerous” is now available via iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, Google Music and all other digital streaming platforms.

It was written by Castille alongside Christian Cambre, while production duties were handled by the latter, with Christopher “Tricky” Stewart serving as executive-producer, and DJ Riggins as mixing engineer and mastering engineer.

The song centers on high-stakes romance, emotional volatility, and the magnetic yet risky pull of a complicated relationship.

Castille has yet to confirm whether he will be releasing more standalone singles or whether his recent promotional singles will be part of a full length album or EP from the artist.

Jamaican-American singer/songwriter Ania Hoo has released her new promotional single online.

“IRL” is now available via iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, Google Music and all other digital streaming platforms.

It was written by Hoo alongside Mathew Keightly and Coleman Bryant, while production was handled by the latter under his production moniker Okay Coleman!, with Keightly serving as mixing and mastering engineer.

The dreamy alt-pop track captures the vulnerability and excitement of transitions from online or digital infatuation into real-life romance. Lyrically, it outlines the feeling of meeting someone who shifts your entire perspective, making you rearrange your life and schedule just to capture the moment, hoping the sparks felt digitally will carry over into real life.

Signed to 33A Records, Hoo has yet to confirm whether she will be releasing more standalone singles or whether her recent promotional singles will be part of a full length album or EP from the artist.

09 October 2024 (2 Years Ago): South African recording artist Tyla Seethal, known mononymously as Tyla, released “Tears” as a standalone digital promotional single (Sony Music Entertainment / Fax Records / Epic Records / Concord Music Publishing / Kobalt Music Publishing / Sony Music Publishing / Universal Music Publishing).

It was written by Tyla alongside Michael Pollack, Theron “Billie Goat” Thomas, Olivia “Livvi Franc” Waithe, Tor Hermansen and Mikkel Eriksen, while production was handled by the latter two under their production moniker Stargate, with Oscar Cornejo serving as recording engineer, mixing engineer and mastering engineer.

The acoustic folk ballad - which was A&R’d by Ezekiel “Zeke” Lewis - is about empathy, offering emotional support, and acting as a shoulder to cry on for a loved one going through hardship. Lyrically, it centers on connecting with an “inner empath,” where the narrator offers to absorb or share someone else’s emotional pain so they do not have to suffer alone.

While is did not achieve major breakout placement on definitive global singles charts like the US Billboard Hot 100 or the UK Singles Chart, it has reached a peak of number eleven on the UK Afrobeat Singles Chart.

As of date, “Tears” has been streamed more than 5 million times on Spotify.

Jamaican singer/songwriter Akina Eman has released her new promotional single online.

“Supernatural” is now available via iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, Google Music and all other digital streaming platforms.

It was written by Eman (credited as Christina Emanuel) alongside Keron “KaleX” Alexander and Aundre “Riddim Boss” Edwards, while production duties were handled by the latter two, with Alexander serving as recording and mixing engineer.

The song was inspired by Eman’s comfort television show (Supernatural) and a deep romantic relationship she experienced. It serves as a tribute to that rare, transcendent chemistry and the hope that everyone gets to experience a love that feels “super” and magical at least once in their lifetime.

Signed to Out Deh Records, Eman has yet to confirm whether she will be releasing more standalone singles or whether her recent promotional singles will be part of a full length album or EP from the artist.

09 October 2013 (13 Years Ago): British singer/songwriter Joel Compass released “Run” as a standalone digital promotional single (Universal Music Group / Outsiders Recorded Music / Polydor Records / Kobalt Music Publishing).

It was written by Compass alongside Ian Dench (formerly of British alternative rock band EMF), while production was handled by Compass, with Graham Archer serving as vocal producer and mixing engineer.

The song is about the pain of loving someone who is emotionally unavailable and constantly avoids commitment. It centers on a partner who flees whenever a relationship deepens or becomes serious.

As of date, “Run” - which did not achieve major commercial breakout placement on definitive global singles charts like the US Billboard Hot 100 or the UK Singles Chart - has been streamed more than 1.5 million times on Spotify.

09 October 2007 (19 Years Ago): American singer, songwriter, and record producer Alicia Keys released “No One” as the lead single from her third studio album, “I Am” (Sony Music Entertainment / J Records / Sony Music Publishing / Universal Music Publishing).

It was written by Keys alongside Kerry “Krucial” Brothers and DJ Dirty Harry (credited as George Mr. Harry), while production was handled by the former two, with Dirty Harry serving as co-producer, Ann Mincieli as recording engineer, Brendan Dekora, Stu White and Zach Hancock as assistant recording engineers, Manny Marroquin as mixing engineer, Jared Robbins as assistant mixing engineer, and Dave Kutch as mastering engineer.

The powerful anthem - which was A&R’d by Angela Young, Mark Springer and Rani Hancock - is about unwavering, unconditional love and the unshakeable bonds that exist between people. Lyrically, it highlights that love doesn’t mean life is perfect; rather, it provides a safe, steady harbor when things get difficult.

Commercially, it topped the US Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart for five consecutive weeks and also reached number one in Croatia, Hungary and Switzerland, while charting within the top ten in 18 additional countries.

The single was certified diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) on August 16, 2024, denoting sales exceeding ten million units according to Nielsen SoundScan.

As of date, “No One” has been streamed more than 1.2 billion times on Spotify.

Danish-Ethiopian singer, songwriter, and record producer Mekdes Pedersen, known mononymously as Mekdes, has released his new single online.

“Dysphoria” is now available via iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal, Google Music and all other digital streaming platforms.

It was written by Mekdes alongside Andres Vesterdal Skovbjerg, while production was handled by the former, with Jeppe London Bilsby serving as mixing engineer.

The deeply personal song is about Mekdes’ experience navigating gender dysphoria as a non-binary/trans person, exploring the tension between wanting to transition and the fear of losing what she is used to while feeling massively uncomfortable in her current form.

Lyrically, it captures how internal turmoil and self-doubt spill over into relationships, causing the narrator to push away a caring partner who tries to offer love and reassurance.

Signed to Mermaid Records, Mekdes has yet to confirm whether he will be releasing more standalone singles or whether his recent promotional singles will be part of a full length album or EP from the artist.
