The only way to save the fuckin world!!!
An Alien Registration Number and the phrase “I love you, mom.” I don’t know exactly when and I don’t know how, but sometime this year I began covering family detention and family separation almost exclusively. Over the last few months, I’ve met so many children whose lives have changed drastically in a matter of hours. One day they’re studying for a math test and the next they’re in a white van surrounded by masked men. One night, their mom is reading them a bed time story and the next they’re wondering if she’s ever coming home. Last week, I met Valery. A brave 6-year-old who proudly read her mom’s A# from a piece of paper and told me it was important to have it handy. She is six. Her mom Adela and older sister Sofia, were at the Dilley immigration processing center at the time. As it happens with most of the cases I cover, I was in awe of Adela’s children. Bright, brave and resilient. It made it difficult to say goodbye, I never want to say goodbye. Today I was able to return. And I witnessed the moment Valery got home from school to a surprise she had been praying for. Her mom, Adela, was released. Her sister is home again too. It was a bittersweet moment. They are happy, but they lost so much. Attorneys @coreysull and @attorneygoldfinch fought ruthlessly for this mother. Yes, I get to shed light on these stories, but they carry the weight. They do the work.

When I lost Kyle, my world changed in ways I never could have imagined. But even in the deepest heartache, God has continued to show me His love through the incredible people who have surrounded me, lifted us up, and carried me through days I never thought I could face. As the holidays approach, my heart is especially with the families navigating this season without someone they love. I know firsthand how heavy this time of year can feel when someone who should be there is missing. I have been blessed beyond words by the kindness, generosity, and love others have shown our family. And as I continue to navigate this journey, I feel called to take some of that love and pour it into others who may need it most. That is why I am so grateful to introduce The Widow’s Wish Project. 8 Women. 18 Families. A Legacy of Love. Through this project, we hope to honor Kyle’s legacy by bringing a little extra love, joy, and light to families who could use it this Christmas. The nomination application is officially OPEN and can be found in my bio or here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScGxVoFnrZRHLsxUVoQmVV1RSbBitcJJJNVd-ggxrlPjDYEsg/viewform?usp=sharing&ouid=111042990103217357104 Nominations close November 9th. Please share this video in hopes of reaching widows across the country who need a little extra love this holiday season. “The God of all comfort… comforts us… so that we can comfort those in any trouble.” — 2 Corinthians 1:3–4
Day one at Australia’s newest international airport, and Goji was already on the case 🐶🍌 The biosecurity detector dog and his handler, Katie, were working at Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport on October 26, 2026, the first day international passengers arrived. Goji sniffed out undeclared bananas and pistachios in a traveler’s luggage, making the airport’s first-ever detector dog interception. The airport, Australia’s first brand-new greenfield commercial airport in more than 50 years, opened to international travelers that day with a flight from Auckland, and six detector dog teams were on duty from the start. Good boy, Goji 🏆 Media: @australianbiosecurity
