In 1977, George Reinholt, one of the biggest names in daytime television imploded his career by publicly insulting one of the directors of his show “One Life to Live”. This is after being fired two years earlier from his previous show “Another World” for similar behavior. According to those working closely with him, his behavior steamed from his own internalized homophobia.

Today, actress and Emmy nominee @arielleprepetit of #BeyondtheGates announced her engagement to her fiance, Rachel Jarrard. Arielle is the third openly gay cast member of this serial. Last year, Karla Mosley and Mike Manning were named as part of Out Magazine 100.

Having worked for Proctor & Gamble Productions, one of the producers of “Beyond the Gates”, in the late 70’s and 80’s, which had “morals clauses” for actors, it is heartwarming and amazing for me to out gay and queer performers celebrated these joyous life milestones openly, without fear of retribution.

At a time when we are made to believe all is moving backwards, it is beautiful to see how far we have come!

Congratulations 🍾🎉🎈🎊 ladies! Here to a long and happy life together!
