3 hours agoIt becomes first try Friday for everything bc you can’t afford to run it back for each detail you didn’t plan out well enough to begin with… it’s an industry pattern for sure, due to economic pressure to compete
4 hours agoSome guys are expensive because they're trying to scale and people can end up with shoddy work with the added insult of paying a lot of money for it. Case in point, my last property manager. Cost me a fortune and the fees were the least of it. Strangely enough we didn't hire him based on his fees, we hired him out of trust. Live and learn!
6 hours agoThank you pastor 🙏🏾 iv finally decided to charge appropiately for the work and time and care i take to get the job done, Esp experience. A friend told me, pray about the jobs and your pricing, charge for your time properly, and if you dont get the job. God is protecting you from somewhere you should not be. Prov 16.9
6 hours agoI’m nearly half a century old, many years in the trades, and I still have a hard time reminding myself how long it takes to do the simplest things. Things that seem to the uninitiated like they should take an hour, might take four or five. And even I forget this principal: however, long you think a job will take add 30%. If you want a job to be done well you have to slow down, observe all of the details, and be very deliberate. Many people are just not willing to pay for this, because they don’t understand it, they have never experienced the mindset of a craftsman.
7 hours agoSo much truth, the funny part is when you rush you also have to go back depending on your warranty so it actually takes longer to do it a second time instead of doing it right the first time.
7 hours agoFor my current side work which is hourly, i charge a fairly high rate and if they accept, i MAKE SURE i take the time to make sure that I or another contractor, doesnt have to come back to fix/redo it. 🤙🏻🤙🏻
9 hours agoUnfortunately, in other trades like Power-Lines, that “time crunch” is placed upon the tradesman, and shorty work is best-case scenario, worst case is … death. No job is worth the cost of your life.
13 hours agoAlso, don’t overbook yourself. Charging appropriately helps with this, but some of us (me) are chronic over-schedulers that can’t be saved.
