It is always said that the right/perfect roles will always find you, and this year has been nothing but that. However, when Nya found me, last minute and almost out of nowhere, I would be lying if I didn’t say I was terrified to take on this responsibility. It was a “yes” that came from the heart and said it before my body and mind could realize what I had signed up for. A person and a story that I honestly did not know if I could properly pull off until tech.
Throughout the entire process the only thing that kept me grounded was trust: Sarah’s trust in me stepping into Nya, my cast’s trust in me to help tell this story, my trust in Dominique’s words to give me all I need to tell the story, my own trust in my craft, and the overall trust in the people, stories, and lives that I could pull from to help me truthfully represent the Nyas in the world. Past, Present, and Future. This role was nothing but a gift, an honor, and a lesson. I couldn’t be prouder of all that our production of ‘Pipeline’ became. I am nothing but Thankful!
