Towering above the streets of Mexico City, La Catrina is one of the most recognisable symbols of Día de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. The elegantly dressed skeleton represents the belief that death comes for everyone, regardless of wealth or social status. Originally popularised by Mexican artist José Guadalupe Posada, the character later became an iconic figure in Mexican culture.

During Day of the Dead celebrations, enormous Catrina sculptures, colourful parades and elaborate decorations transform public spaces across Mexico. These displays honour deceased loved ones while celebrating the country’s rich artistic traditions and cultural heritage.

For the 2026 celebrations, Mexico City unveiled a record breaking Catrina measuring approximately 33.4 metres tall in the historic Zócalo square. Created by around 140 artists and technicians, the enormous figure features a flowing purple dress and stands among thousands of marigolds. The installation celebrates Mexico’s traditions of remembrance and will remain on display until November 2. 🇲🇽💀🌼

We’ve just endured a summer of heatwaves — and Reform UK still wants to scrap Net Zero. Make it make sense.

On Question Time, Zia Yusuf kept pushing to scrap Net Zero policies. Then one audience member said what millions of people are thinking.

While people are living with the reality of a heating planet, Reform UK want to rip up the policies designed to tackle it.

The climate crisis won’t wait for politicians to catch up. Neither should we.

We just wanted to talk about something that matters to us. 🖤🏳️‍🌈

Since our last viral post, we’ve received so many messages from lesbians sharing their experiences of being sexualised, fetishised and having their relationships reduced to questions about their sex lives, this may not be a topic everyone wants to talk about, but it’s our everyday reality.

One message in particular stayed with us:

A girl in our DM’s who will remain anonymous, told us that she came out at nine years old, and that even then, adults treated her as though her sexuality made her inappropriate. Now, years later, she’s at university and says that when she mentions her girlfriend, people almost immediately ask about their sex life.

She deserves better than that. We all do.

Being a lesbian isn’t an invitation for people to question our intimacy, imagine our sex lives or treat our relationships as entertainment.
We can be affectionate in public. We can post photos together. We can be proud of our love.
None of those things means our relationship is public property.

And at the end of the day, love is love, meaning we fell in love with eachother because of who they are, it’s not about sex.

Lesbian relationships deserve the same privacy, dignity, seriousness and respect as any other relationship. We’re two best friends who fell in love.

And if sharing our experiences helps even one person understand why this matters, then we want to keep having these conversations.

To the lesbians who have experienced this, we’re sorry you’ve had to deal with it. To all the queer women in our DM’s we see you and we will keep showing up for all of you. You deserve to be seen as a whole person, not somebody else’s fantasy.

And to everyone reading this: sometimes supporting the LGBTQ+ community starts with something simple. Treat our relationships with the same respect you’d want for your own. And if you can’t understand it, consider yourself lucky in that sense, but please don’t belittle anyone’s experience!

And our love is not an invitation. 🖤

With love,
Annie & Gracey 🩷
