Heads up: that cheap award price might be basic economy.
Delta, JetBlue and Southwest now sell basic economy award tickets, even when you pay with points. American, United and Alaska don't (for now).
Basic usually means no seat pick (one gets assigned for you), later boarding and no upgrades. On Delta and JetBlue, changing or canceling costs a fee, so the usual award flexibility mostly goes away.
The tip: before you transfer points, click into the fare and look for "Basic." Then compare it to the regular main cabin award. Sometimes the extra miles are worth it.
Would you take a basic award to save some miles, or pay up for a real seat?
