This one's for Shane:

When I workout in clothing that works for me, I do not consent to being leered at by creepers in the gym. However, I DO consent to being sexualised in very specific contexts, which I get to dictate (big clue in this pic which context that is). But men like Shane are the exact same men that also slam women for making money that way. Seems like what they don't like is women having the choice of what to wear, and about who gets to sexualise them and when. THEY want to choose when women are sexualised.

A radical idea: People minding their business in the gym working out aren't actually there for your consumption. They're just living their lives and - withhold your disbelief for a moment - don't actually give a fuck what you think about their outfit.

Also your use of the word *whore* and the distaste with which you say it is very interesting, considering that the women you're leering at are not getting paid for or consenting to that sexualisation...

Research on sensory processing shows that adults experience a measurable shift in auditory sensitivity after age 25, with the ability to distinguish speech from background noise declining steadily each decade. A 2018 study from the National Institute on Deafness tracked 2,400 participants and found that the average person requires 6 to 8 decibels more volume by their mid thirties to achieve the same comprehension level they had at twenty. This change often goes unnoticed until media consumption highlights it, such as turning on closed captions during shows or conversations in noisy rooms. The same data set revealed that people who begin using visual text aids report 34 percent higher satisfaction with dialogue heavy content. Those who resist the switch frequently underestimate how much cognitive effort their brain now expends decoding muffled speech.

Save this for the next time you reach for the remote.
