Democracy is not just about having the right to protest. It is also about respecting the dignity and rights of others.

Iranians have fought for freedom for decades, even at the cost of their lives. Yet some European politicians claimed they were not ready for democracy.

Perhaps it is time to reconsider who is truly failing democracy.

During the protests on January 8 and 9, the Iranian people didn’t take even a single grain of rice from any shop. They caused no damage to shopkeepers or businesses. Yet, the response they received was bullets and gunfire. They were met with violence, and people were killed.

ASAP DAN API, PERIH MATA, SESAK DI NAFAS

Perih rasanya mata ini saat berhadapan langsung dengan asap dan api. Saat berada di Palangkaraya, saya menemukan kobaran api besar di tepi jalan, dengan asap tebal yang menyelimuti sekitar. Pemandangan yang membuat saya terdiam sejenak, menyaksikan betapa nyata dan beratnya perjuangan menghadapi kebakaran hutan dan lahan.

Namun, ada satu hal yang terus terlintas di pikiran saya. Perjuangan mereka bukan hanya pagi, bukan hanya siang, tetapi juga berlanjut hingga tengah malam. Ketika sebagian orang beristirahat di rumah, ada para petugas dan relawan yang masih berjibaku dengan api, berusaha memadamkan bara yang tersembunyi di dalam tanah gambut.

Ini bukan sekadar cerita tentang api, tetapi tentang manusia yang memilih untuk tetap bertahan demi menyelamatkan sesama.

Kejadian cerita saya pada 12 Oktober 2026 di Palangkaraya ini, saya ingin berbagi bahwa di luar sana masih banyak Relawan, Tim Gabungan yang sedang berjuang. Ada tenaga yang terkuras, napas yang sesak, mata yang perih, dan tubuh yang lelah. Namun, mereka tetap bertahan karena masih ada wilayah yang harus diselamatkan dan masyarakat yang membutuhkan pertolongan.

Mari kita doakan saudara-saudara kita yang sedang berjuang di lapangan. Semoga Allah memberikan kesehatan, kekuatan, perlindungan, dan keselamatan kepada seluruh petugas serta relawan. Semoga api segera padam, asap segera berlalu, dan masyarakat bisa kembali menghirup udara bersih.
