Japanese Horror Spotlight👠
4. Helter Skelter (2012) by Mika Ninagawa
Not only my favorite new discovery of the month, probably slotted into one of my favorite films period. This is beautiful surreal horror by women for women. Machines for the processing of desire as the main theme. Erika Sawajiri and the rest of the cast carry this visually stunning masterpiece. It’s one of those rare films I really would struggle to say anything against. It’s perfect exactly as it is. Playful and purposeful with every element. Cannot sing this film’s praises enough.
