Japanese Horror Spotlight 5. Ju-On Black Ghost (2009) by Mari Asato👻🖤 Mari Asato is the Queen of Japanese horror films. I have so enjoyed getting to know her work. #womeninfilm Her installment of Ju-On is very fun and it is Christmas themed too so it can work as a winter watch too! Some of my personal favorite more classic horrors worth at least one viewing also include, 6. Hausu (1977) by Nobuhiko Obayashi 7. Onibaba (1964) by Kaneto Shindō 8. Exit 8 (2026) by Genki Kawamura 9. Ugetsu (1953) by Kenji Mizoguchi 10. Cure (1997) by Kiyoshi Kurosawa by @cinema.diamond
I never do Halloween but this fall has been an exception. 🎃🎃🎃 Thank you to friends who take pics and are there for everything. Moving tiredly but excited into a brand new chapter after this. Special thanks to @medicinebleu_lens for taking pictures of the nightmare fashion show by Kris Carroll who is a very talented designer and artist. Also, everyone watch a Japanese horror film please this year. by @cinema.diamond
I’ve been thinking about; the last burst of light before the season of dark, tears in places like The Tower of London and the park next to my house, watching animals eat rotten apples and thinking they look like they taste good, wanting to take things home but knowing that would make me cry too, settling for a print I didn’t really want because I couldn’t find the one I did by @cinema.diamond
Japanese Horror Spotlight👠 4. Helter Skelter (2012) by Mika Ninagawa Not only my favorite new discovery of the month, probably slotted into one of my favorite films period. This is beautiful surreal horror by women for women. Machines for the processing of desire as the main theme. Erika Sawajiri and the rest of the cast carry this visually stunning masterpiece. It’s one of those rare films I really would struggle to say anything against. It’s perfect exactly as it is. Playful and purposeful with every element. Cannot sing this film’s praises enough. by @cinema.diamond
Japanese Horror Spotlight 🔥 3. Eko Eko Azarak: Wizard of Darkness (1995) by Shimako Sato This female directed, female centered horror is fun, fun. The protagonist Misa is trapped with her classmates at school and accused of working with the devil. While chaos ensues and the students are picked off, she works to solve for who is behind the curtain and how to stop them. It’s based on an anime series. If I had seen this film in high school something tells me I would have watched it every Halloween. #womeninfilm by @cinema.diamond
Japanese Horror Spotlight ❤️ 2. The Boy From Hell (2004) Mari Asato 💄 This comes in at under an hour and has all the crazy low budget camp of something right up my alley. Part of Hideshi Hino’s Theater of Horror series. Asato has had a really cool career and she’s worked with greats like Kiyoshi Kurosawa, but I’m a fan of her unique personal style. by @cinema.diamond
Ich liebe dich, Werner💛 there is often something much better than accuracy to every story. by @cinema.diamond
Time for a Japanese Horror Spotlight🖤 1. Kuroneko 🐈‍⬛ by Kaneto Shindō Shindō and his wife, the incredible actress Nobuko Otowa are a true star of a pair. She plays the mother again in this film but always steals the scene for me. The creeping sort of overgrown feeling this director captures is haunting at the same time so cool. And there are really creepy cat sounds/images but no cats in distress(to my knowledge ). by @cinema.diamond
Who is Charles Money? Hopefully he is/was nice because he’s my new lucky charm. 🌙 by @cinema.diamond

The Wraith (1986) 🔥 Yes, there’s like supernatural stuff and lots of car drives and chases that result in said cars flipping and exploding (all on flat surfaces lol). But the coolest part of the movie for me was seeing Sherilyn Fenn wearing this very desert style Canadian tuxedo moment. With white cowboy boots. She’s forever so charming. Sorry cars and boys. by @cinema.diamond
