Every book cover commission is an opportunity to discover something new, and in the process of creating the cover for The Fall Of Truth, I discovered that I LOVE - and I mean, LOVE - creating gilded frames. Gold everything, please.
I started by building each scroll and leaf in Illustrator as a vector element, and then arranged them into a frame. Every individual element consisted of multiple layers of gold, shadows, highlights, and beveling. Together, they formed the frame on the front cover... I also had the delight of painting this gilded, cloak-draped chair for the back cover.
