It’s been a while since you’ve heard from us. We had a somewhat related but unrelated scare.

In June, Kristine had a routine mammogram. It turned out to be anything but routine. After more testing, she ended up having surgery to remove the suspicious tissue so they could do a more in-depth biopsy.

We were hopeful, but there was a 50% chance it would be bad news. What kind of luck would we have that Kristine would have all this chemo only to have breast cancer on top of it? That was just too much!

We got the biopsy results back on 9/28.
NO BREAST CANCER!!! 🎉 We’re incredibly grateful & relieved to have one less thing to worry about.

To prep for surgery, she had to stop the medication that starves tumors of blood supply 6 weeks ago. We now realize this medication was likely causing some of her major side effects. Since stopping it, she’s been feeling much better!

Since then, we’ve been spending more time enjoying life together & appreciating these moments even more. We’re soaking it up & not taking any of it for granted. ❤️

She’s feeling more like herself, having much less pain, and her hair is growing back thick & healthy. She’s still struggling with her appetite & continues to lose weight. We’re keeping an eye on it.

Even though the last few weeks have been pretty good, Tuesday night into Wednesday morning was HELL. 😩 She was up vomiting & was too sick to get Immunotherapy on Wednesday. Thankfully, she’s feeling much better. They rescheduled last week’s treatment to this Tuesday.

Her next PET scan is on Thursday. We’re hoping for good results! Please keep prayers & positive thoughts coming. We could really use some good news! 🙏🏽

Overall, she’s having more good days than bad. We feel like we’re moving in the right direction. This fight is far from over, but we’re so grateful for the better days, the extra quality time, & every bit of progress she’s made.
