Here’s how I set schluter drains. I do it the day before. Hate the mud squeezes out everywhere!#drain #setting #money #diy

Asking as a student, doesn't water puddle around the drain? Or does it weep somehow?

Why pay the cost of schluter and then liquid membrane over it? Don't you trust it?

I always cut four pieces of mesh tape that I set in thinset, one on each side of the drain grate. Helps a ton with the stability of the mud buildup in that divot and can set the floor the day of. Works slick

That takes time. Float , waterproof , flash , 4th day your setting tile. That ain’t gonna work

Have you tried the ebbe 1 piece drain? It twists on pretty nice

I have built a few schluter showers but one thing I refuse to use is the drain collar and grate. Overpriced and always giving issues. I like using the flo fx grate adapter on the schluter bonding flange with those. Doesn't give you the same issue as schluter with the height

The little nipples on that bonding flange the drain slips in always gets in the way too. Multitool those off 2 times and never used that drain again. #flofxdrains are far superior 🔥

Jason it’s those little things that make the job that much smoother. Good one

That works nice for stones, but I like the play for hex, or other pattern mosaics. There's a good 3/4" play. Sometimes its the difference between a full/half, and a sliver. I'll mix a little thinset thick to set it, then thin it out for the tile. Doesn't squeeze out that way. And of all the schluter products, I like the drain flange the best...
