Panelist Highlight: Emily Sollenberger
This Friday, October 23, Emily Sollenberger will join us for “Working in the Arts: Grant Panel,” an exciting discussion about funding creative projects through grants. Sollenberger is the Program Director of Arts Services at the Maryland State Arts Council, where she encourages and invests in the advancement of the arts for all Marylanders. She directly supports the artists and arts organizations within the visual, media, multidisciplinary, folk/traditional arts, and service disciplines, providing access to grant opportunities, professional development, and strategic initiatives to better serve their communities. Sollenberger and her team actively work toward implementing change that is reflective of equity in the grantmaking process so that public resources are spread across all communities of our state. Sollenberger was also selected for the very first cohort of its kind in the country to be included in the Crisis Analysis & Mitigation Coach Training for Arts Responders, supported by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the National Coalition of Arts Preparedness & Emergency Response (NCAPER). This nationwide network of responders is trained to support communities in developing and/or expanding their mitigation strategies using arts and creativity at the core. Prior to MSAC, Sollenberger raised funds for nonprofit arts organizations rooted in Baltimore City, including Maryland Art Place, Baltimore Clayworks, and the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts. Sollenberger obtained her Master of Arts in Arts Administration from the Savannah College of Art and Design, and her Bachelor of Arts in Art and Business from Muskingum College.
If you want to learn more about grant writing, please join us on Friday, October 23, from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm at the Prince George’s Room located on the first floor of the Stamp Student Union.
