Maryland again emerged as one of the nation’s most arts-vibrant states in 2025, ranking first in total government support of the arts, second in state arts funding, and fifth in state arts grants, according to research by SMU DataArts! Rankings were determined based on numbers of arts organizations, artists, and available resources in each state’s arts ecosystem.

The MSAC team extends its gratitude to the dedicated artists and administrators that make Maryland a uniquely creative place to live and work. It is our privilege to support your activities! by @mdartscouncil

The arts bring people together and they fuel our economy. Tens of thousands of jobs. 3% of Maryland’s GDP.

I spoke at the Maryland Arts Summit at Prince George’s Community College to celebrate exactly that - because if you care about jobs and economic growth, you should care about the arts. #marylandarts by @mdartscouncil
