14 days agoYou can no more pour from an empty cup than you can write from an empty heart. More than once I have found myself sitting in front of the empty page, staring at that hateful cursor, desperate for any words at all to come out. It's easy to feel like the muses have forsaken you in these moments, but then one day I realized something: art won't come out unless you first put art in. Seems obvious in hindsight but clearly if I wasn't inspired, it was because I needed to become inspired, and raging against the blank page was never going to fix that. So? I went for a walk, and that was where my words found me. It is easy to think that the "right way" to write means deadlines and word counts, but if you are struggling to fill your pages today, maybe you should take a field trip instead. Go to the park, the museum, go to the art gallery, that is where you will find your words.
