A bungalow turned timber experience centre · Ritikaa Wood · 8/8
Domlur, Bangalore · 2,000 sq ft · Completed
This reel walks through the full project, a bungalow renovation in Domlur where the original walls are retained, plaster skin peeled back to reveal original brickwork, with a new layer of woodwork inserted. A showroom for engineered timber construction, designed to evoke the warmth, comfort and familiarity of a vernacular home.
Arriving across a pond and through a pivoting door, you see a central courtyard with natural skylight. Timber columns, wood-lined ceilings and a floor of mixed wood species occupies the sunken court. A sample wall doubles as a room divider between the courtyard and lounge. Large openings and outdoor decking links the interiors to the garden.
Sustainable design through reuse, not rebuilding.
