Miami-Dade’s sheriff told County Hall to find their own ride #ONLYinDADE Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz is shutting down the Sergeant-at-Arms program on Nov. 9. Those are the deputies who drive and protect Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and all 13 county commissioners. She says it costs about $4.1 million a year and her office needs the money. Here’s the backstory. She asked for $42 million more than the mayor recommended this year, and commissioners said no. They still approved $1.23 billion for her office, the biggest budget it has ever had. The mayor and Commission Chair Anthony Rodriguez say less than three weeks’ notice is a real security problem, and they want a full plan before the 9th. The deputies aren’t losing their jobs. They’re just not driving the people who voted on her budget anymore. Swipe for the whole story 👉 Sources: NBC 6, Local 10, Univision 23, Political Cortadito
