Hear from Senior Ella Rogers from PC ‘23, about her internship this past summer in Honduras!!🤍

“This summer I had the opportunity to intern with the Whale Shark and Oceanic Research center in Utila, Honduras. There, I got scuba certified and was able to conduct fieldwork on the coral reefs off the coast of the bay islands. I gained practical experience like fish and coral identification as well as experience monitoring reef communities. I was also able to learn how the Research center helps combat in the diminishing stony coral population. Some of my responsibilities included tending to coral nurseries and administering topical medicine to diseased coral found on the reef. Not only did I learn so much from my internship, but I met so many great people in my field and truly fell in love with Utila.”
