Here, for the very first time, these early works are brought together beneath one sky, revealed as a complete body of work: the very first works Pierrot sought to erase, the very first works he deliberately chose to forget.

The first works, like the first stirrings of love.

A first, like the first heartbeat, the first gesture, the first tremor, the first breath, the first kiss.

For it is from these sometimes-hesitant sketches that he drew his first portraits, his first images—it is here that he captured his very first photographs.
From painting, the Man, the Photographer was born.

HE is Pierrot Men. SHE is Painting.
He first encountered her in the 1970s, and together they travelled the canvas until the late 1990s and the dawn of the new millennium.
