ABÉCÉDAIRE DE NOS ÉTATS AFFECTIFS . JOËL ANDRIANOMEARISOA We are delighted to share that ABÉCÉDAIRE DE NOS ÉTATS AFFECTIFS a project conceived and imagined by Joël Andrianomearisoa, is now on view at the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris. Rooted in his Malagasy heritage and reaching towards the universal language of affection, this project was created especially for the Prix Marcel Duchamp 2026, for which Joël Andrianomearisoa is one of four nominated artists. Presented as part of the exhibition curated by Odile Burluraux and Nicolas Liucci-Goutnikov, ABÉCÉDAIRE DE NOS ÉTATS AFFECTIFS takes the form of an alphabet unfolding through sculpture, sound and embroidery. It offers a way to relearn how to read, to write, to live and to die, while giving form to the emotions that permeate our contemporary world. On view from 2 October 2026 to 7 February 2027 Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris . France The winner of the Prix Marcel Duchamp 2026 will be announced on 22 October 2026, during Paris Art Week. ABCDEFG. PIERROT MEN . FOFON’AINA . LA MÉMOIRE PERSISTANTE D’UN PREMIER AMOUR Here, for the very first time, these early works are brought together beneath one sky, revealed as a complete body of work: the very first works Pierrot sought to erase, the very first works he deliberately chose to forget. The first works, like the first stirrings of love. A first, like the first heartbeat, the first gesture, the first tremor, the first breath, the first kiss. For it is from these sometimes-hesitant sketches that he drew his first portraits, his first images—it is here that he captured his very first photographs. From painting, the Man, the Photographer was born. HE is Pierrot Men. SHE is Painting. He first encountered her in the 1970s, and together they travelled the canvas until the late 1990s and the dawn of the new millennium. TADY MITADY TADIDY BY JOËL ANDRIANOMEARISOA 18TH LYON BIENNALE CONTEMPORARY ART CURATED BY CATHERINE NICHOLS FROM SEPTEMBER 19 TO DECEMBER 13 2026 LYON. FRANCE Hakanto Contemporary is pleased to inform you that Joël Andrianomearisoa, Founder and Artistic Director of Hakanto Contemporary, is part of the 18th Lyon Biennale Contemporary Art, curated by Catherine Nichols with a new production titled TADY MITADY TADIDY (the rope in search of its own memory). The monumental installation explores the notion of memory. A material searching for its own memory, without going through language or writing. Emotions and affective states lie at the centre of Joël Andrianomearisoa’s practice, spanning installation, text, sculpture, and design. Working with materials such as paper, textiles, and found elements, he treats language as both medium and structure. His work moves between abstraction and material presence, drawing on a plurality of references and collaborations to evoke experiences of intimacy, absence, and desire. It unfolds through environments where words, materials, and sensations intersect according to sensitive and instinctive logics. TADY MITADY TADIDY Joël Andrianomearisoa Fiber and various textiles. HIGHLIGHTS . HAKANTO NIGHT #2 AMBANIALA by Emilie Andriamahefa 09 . 09 . 2026 A fashion show produced by Hakanto Contemporary as part of its fourth season, PIERROT MEN · FOFON’AINA A season. An exhibition dedicated to Pierrot Men. Curated by Joël Andrianomearisoa and Rina Ralay-Ranaivo. Since its inception, HAKANTO NIGHT has been conceived as a nocturnal carte blanche, imagined as an extension of our exhibition seasons. Each edition offers an opportunity to invite another artistic language into conversation with the world of a particular season. For this second edition, Hakanto Contemporary invited artist and fashion designer Emilie Andriamahefa to take over this carte blanche with AMBANIALA, a collection that explores the reverberations of family memory through the aesthetics of the Fifohazana, remembrance and transmission. The project resonates with the body of photographs Pierrot Men has devoted to the Fifohazana community of Soatanana since the late 1980s, giving rise to one of the most emblematic bodies of work within his oeuvre.
