Mona van den Berg is a Dutch documentary photographer and former human rights lawyer with a Roma background. Her work focuses on human rights, women’s rights, migration and conflict-related sexual violence. For her photo project ‘The Silent Wounds of War: Unveiling the Silence’, she photographs women around the world who have survived sexual violence during war and conflict, using a trauma-sensitive approach. This will culminate in a bilingual Dutch-English photo book that will be published on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (25 November) 2027. This will, at the same time, be the starting date for a travelling exhibition.
