I’m proud to be my parents’ son every day. But the pride is poppin’ a little extra today for this great guy.

Everyone in Chattanooga knows @davidcarroll3 has crushed it at @local3news for as long as I’ve been alive. But what they don’t see every day is how epic a dad and grandfather he is: sharp as a tack, funny as hell, and encouraging beyond measure. There was never a time I felt pressured to do this or do that.

Instead, he simply did his part to provide the tools and stability for @vincecarroll and me to learn, work, play, and succeed on our own terms. And that’s all you can ask for in a father! We’ve been very blessed.

Being a “sure thing” in the news anchor chair is a big deal. But bringing that same reliability to being a dad is what really matters. This picture was taken three weeks ago when he visited Washington, DC, to see some baseball and Ringo Starr in concert.

Getting to experience the big leagues of the greatest sport on Earth and see a Beatle (!) with your dad is pretty damn cool. I’m still thrilled he made the trip.

I’m quite fired up to watch him enjoy this new chapter. I’ll be lobbying him to take @cindycarroll9 on lots of fun trips. And he’s already an amazing grandfather to young Colin Carroll. That boy is going to learn so much and laugh so much with his Papa D—I know it because I’ve lived it!

Finally, big thanks to everyone who has shared such kind words and stories about Dad. It’s been really cool to see how much he means to so many people.
