This past month I was commissioned by @cpali_conservation to illustrate 6 endemic silk moths of Madagascar!!
This was such a fun project and I enjoyed researching and drawing each unique moth and their little cocoon <3

A little bit more about CPALI:
They are a small non-profit founded by an evolutionary biologist. They work hand-in-hand with a national organization in Madagascar to uplift farmers and artisans living in poverty in one of the world’s most critical places for biodiversity conservation.

In their people-centered conservation approach, they combine science and art. They teach local farmers to rear six endemic species of wild silk moth to restore habitat with their host plants, and train local artisans to make ethical cocoon silk and raffia palm textiles. This process helps regenerate scarred landscapes, provides dignity through fair employment to a team of talented women artisans, and enables subsistence farmers to earn needed income to keep their children in school.
