Can I tell you something about “calm down”? Most of the time, we’re not really saying it to our kid. We’re saying it to ourselves. Our kid’s big feelings set off something big in us, and “calm down” is our body’s way of trying to make it stop. So before you say anything, check in with yourself. Unclench your jaw, drop your shoulders and take one slow breath. You don’t have to feel calm to act calm. Your kid just needs one person in the room who isn’t adding to the storm, and that can be you, even on a hard day. If you want to practice this with real-life moments, come spend an hour with @dr_alex_reed and me on October 29 at 1PM ET. We’ll take your questions live, and there’s a replay if you can’t make it. It’s part of our new Parenting Kids with ADHD program. Comment PROGRAM and I’ll send you the details. I hope this feels helpful. I’m sharing it as support, not to replace medical or therapeutic advice. Good Inside does not diagnose or treat medical or developmental conditions. If you have concerns about your child, I always encourage you to connect with a qualified professional.
The Way Things Were: a series to bring you back. We’re getting ready for something special. Any guesses? 10.31.

how many more times are we gonna have the same conversation with ourselves? 😭 I’ve been right where you’re… “i’ll start monday.”
“i just need to get motivated again.”
“i know what i need to do, i just need to DO IT.” SEE WE KNOW😭 and that’s the problem. sometimes we’re so self aware of our own bullshit that we confuse knowing better with actually doing better. …but if your actions don’t change neither will your life, and while you’re sitting there comparing your chapter 2 to someone else’s chapter 20 you’re missing out on the opportunity to actually WRITE YOUR OWN STORY. If you need a little structure, accountability, and a kick in the booty to get started, that’s exactly why i created the 14 DAY KNOW YOUR POWER BOOTCAMP. 🦋 🚨doors close TONIGHT. DM me “BOOTCAMP” if you’re ready to get out of your own way. 💌
