About the time when I nearly got banned from school. 😬

This wasn’t my best day. But it’s so painful to watch your child repeatedly be failed and punished for something that was never their fault.

And, as a foster parent, when you advocate too strongly… there’s punishment for you, too.

This has happened to us. It terrified me that to advocate would mean our foster child would be moved from us. It was a coercive power imbalance that is far more dangerous than a response to a non fostering family.

Bio-parents who advocate for their kids in schools are also often vilified by the schools, so your point about parent advocates being seen as heroes kind of takes away from your point.
