Feeling very proud to be holding Discreet Archives first vinyl release and especially so that Nate Wooley agreed to work with me on it.
Memorial grew out of Nate’s work with Annea Lockwood, while recording the Columbia river and in particular a visit to kettle falls. The album explores a relationship between sound, memory and place. It considers how listening and musical translation might preserve a landscape, its contained histories and experiences, that we can no longer directly access.
It’s quiet, micro, truly experimental it is a pretty perfect summation of what I like to publish through discreet archive. It’s out November 5th and you can pre-order and listen to a few select parts of the work now on Bandcamp.
Tell me your favourite album utilising field recordings below and I’ll send one you a free copy.
Thanks for listening.
Yes I normally look that grumpy.
