Remembering Bill Gates: Three Years On

Today marks three years since the passing of Bill Gates, a former Middlesbrough footballer whose experience with CTE football dementia has become a powerful catalyst for change in the game we all love.

Before his death, Bill shared a simple but profound wish:
"It's too late for me, but please do everything you can to ensure that today's players and future players are protected."

At Coaches Across Continents, we believe that play can be used as a force for good. It should develop healthier, safer, and more resilient communities, while protecting the wellbeing of every young person.

Bill's story is a poignant reminder that safeguarding in sport extends beyond protecting children from harm. It also means creating environments that prioritise physical, mental, and long-term brain health. Coaches have a responsibility to ensure that participation today does not compromise a player's future tomorrow.

Today we remember Bill, celebrate his legacy, and reaffirm our shared commitment to making sport safer for all.
