💜✈️🇩🇪 THE DAY HAS FINALLY ARRIVED… MY JOURNEY HOME! 🇩🇪✈️💜
I’m just waking up to the reality that the day I’ve been dreaming about, planning for, and saving for over the past two years is finally HERE!
Today, I begin a journey that means so much more to me than simply taking a vacation. It’s a journey home. ❤️
When I first began planning this milestone birthday, my brother Glen was supposed to be right there beside me. We were going to experience this together. Although he’s no longer physically here, you better believe I’m taking him with me! His picture will be tucked safely in my wallet, and his spirit will be with me every step of the way. 💜
I must admit, I’m feeling a little anxious, a whole lot excited, and incredibly emotional.
I’m also told I’m trading beautiful, warm, sunny weather for cold, rainy German weather! 😂☔️
Oh well… Germany, here I come!
What I’m most excited about is finally laying eyes on my German family and being reunited with my sweet Jula, who many of you will remember was one of my exchange students. Her family and I have grown incredibly close.
That’s one of the beautiful gifts of hosting exchange students.
You open your home to someone for a season, never realizing that you’re opening your heart to people who may become part of your life’s journey forever. ❤️
On October 26, I’ll celebrate my 60th birthday in Kassel, Germany, the city where I was born. I haven’t been back since 1967. Just thinking about that brings tears to my eyes.
Sixty years of life. So many chapters. So many lessons. So much love. And now, a return to where my story began. ✨
Thank you to everyone who shared travel tips, packing suggestions, and snack recommendations!
I think I’m as ready as I’ll ever be!
I’ll share as much of this adventure as I can. Something tells me I’ll return with a heart full of memories, a few tears, plenty of laughter, and some pretty powerful reflections.
Here’s to honoring the past, embracing the present, and stepping into a new decade of life with gratitude, courage, and an open heart.
