Update from Team Tilly: Whenever we used to ask Tilly if there was anything we could do, she would often joke “get me a new body” 🤸🏼‍♀️ Tilly is sadly still in a medically induced coma, on a ventilator, and any new infection could set her back weeks ⏳ But there are some green shoots of progress 🌿🪻She has been more stable for the last week and her previous infections are under control now ✅ Her doctors are planning more open abdominal surgeries, after the 🔟 surgeries she’s already had on this admission. These surgeries are the key 🗝️🔒 If they go well, they could finally set her free to recover from this horrendous experience ⛓️‍💥 Even then, the doctors have told us the recovery will be unlike anything Tilly has experienced before, mentally and physically 😔 After weeks in a medically induced coma, on a ventilator, one of her biggest challenges will be breathing. At first, she won’t be strong enough to breathe unsupported for more than 10 minutes 😮‍💨 Tilly has also lost muscle all over the rest of her body and she’ll need intense physiotherapy to walk again. We’ll only find out just how hard this will be - and how long it will take - when she eventually wakes and tries to move 🚶🏼‍♀️ And we can’t fathom how hard it will be for Tilly to wrap her head around everything she’s been through 🫣 We will do everything we can to wrap our arms around her and support her through it 🫂 But we also know how much her writing ✍🏼 and this wonderful community have helped her in the past 👫 We are praying these next surgeries will finally give Tilly her dream of a new body 🤸🏼‍♀️, allow our dandelion to bloom again 🌼, and get her back to her writing ✍🏼 We know there are so many more chapters in this story 📚 The picture shows Tilly a few years ago in a field of dandelions, making a wish 🌼 Fiancé, Mum, Dad, and Auntie #BePatient #PatientAdvocate #ChronicIllnessAwareness #HealthJourney #InvisibleIllness
