She lost her grandmother, and her boss asked for proof 💔

Every one of these texts could have been one kind sentence: “I’m so sorry. Take the time you need. We’ve got it covered.”

Before you hit send on a message like this, try the out-loud test. Read it out loud as if they’re standing in front of you. If you’d never say it to their face, don’t type it.
What’s the most outrageous message you got from a boss👇

Asking a grieving person for proof is wild, but the out-loud test is the part worth stealing. Nobody would say "send me the obituary" to someone's face, so it should never make it into a text either.

Disgusting, no sincere condolences, not a single ounce of sympathy/empathy in the slightest. As a worker, I’d resign right then and there. If I were this manager’s boss, I’d fire them immediately. Stuff like this makes me grateful that I’m an entrepreneur. I’m glad they handled this with such tact and poise while grieving, I’d be livid. This is a fantastic lesson in communication! The world needs you, Damona!

They forget that we're not merely cogs in corporate's machinery.
