I want to measure my motherhood by something else entirely:
How safe my child feels with me.
How deeply they know they are loved.
How freely they can come to me.
How much room they have to be exactly who they are.
That feels like a measure worth keeping. 🤍

New around here? Hi, I’m Kayla! 👋🏻 I’m passionate about helping parents navigate baby sleep, development, and the beautiful (and sometimes messy) journey of motherhood. I’d love to have you here, follow along for more! @holding.you.close

somewhere along the way we started treating independence as the ultimate measure of successful parenting instead of the security our children feel in needing us. 🥹❤️

It always makes me so sad how normal it is to measure how well a child is doing by how little they need us 😢

Your child’s sleep is not a report card on your motherhood. 🤍

What’s something you refuse to measure your motherhood by? 👇🏼

Maybe we’d feel so much less pressure if we stopped measuring motherhood by how little our children need us.
