however i wanted to spread awareness about parasocial relationships and the importance of respecting personal boundaries, especially as someone who has personally experienced uncomfortable interactions both online and at conventions. being friendly or approachable doesn't automatically mean someone considers you a friend, and that level of closeness isn't always mutual.
friendship is built on mutual trust respect, NOT familiarity or entitlement. artists are people outside of their work and we deserve privacy and boundaries just like anyone else. you can appreciate and support someone's art without knowing them personally and that's perfectly okay!

Yeah, this is actually really important post. I myself follow many artists... and because of my nature I did few mistakes close to this one. I am glad you spread awareness though!!

a lot of people are purposefully missing the point of this post and it's genuinely frustrating 😭 YES, you can still make friends with artists, whether it's online or at artist alley. literally nobody is saying you can't. the whole point is that being friendly with someone doesn't automatically make you friends, and supporting their work doesn't mean you're entitled to a personal relationship with them. friendships happen naturally and should be MUTUAL. just respect people's boundaries and don't be weird about it. it's really not that hard to understand. genuinely had to turn off the comments because some of you are going out of your way to misunderstand what i'm saying when i've made it pretty clear in both the post AND the caption.

I was commed by a big streamer and afterward had some other semi popular peeps (for niche reasons) invite me to a group because they thought they could go through me to also invite that streamer. Really weird and disheartening. They’re a client not a friend. They’re a friend if they call me a friend and that’s it.

I interact with my favourite artists content, buy their merch, but NEVER will i assume that we are friends. I find it so scary that people can’t leave some artists alone 🥹
