My mom recently helped me finish up my Native American shawl project which was facilitated by Fresno State’s art department. The workshops held were led by Professor Jamie Boley and Corky Mills, an elder of the Lakota tribe, who taught us her traditions of shawl making. What this project created for me was the opportunity to connect with my mom in a new way through creativity. My mom’s sewing touch leveled up my piece, our piece. <3 She’s a pro fr fr.
