🚇 Happy 122nd birthday, New York City subway (which opened on October 27, 1904)! 🎉

The 116 St station was one of the subway’s original 28 stops on what was then the Interborough Rapid Transit line. William Barclay Parsons (CC 1879, SEAS 1882) was the IRT’s chief engineer and designed the original plans. 122 years after the subway came to Columbia’s Morningside campus, it remains a vital connection for Columbians and New York City. In 2025, more than 3.4 million subway trips started at the 116 St-Columbia University station.
