Emmanuel Affedzie (@kojoaffedzie) works across sculpture, photography and film, with a background in fashion styling and image-making. His series “After Silence II” takes vessels and architectural forms into large stainless-steel lighting objects, developed from a personal desire to understand his own light and find his spark again. Making the series has also become a way of learning about himself, following an earlier exploration of fragility in “After Silence I”.
In this recent interview with GIDA, Emmanuel speaks about creating from an emotional starting point and finding ways to communicate a feeling through materials. He leaves room for people to make their own connections with the sculptures, without deciding in advance what those encounters should mean.
