Emmanuel Affedzie (@kojoaffedzie) works across sculpture, photography and film, with a background in fashion styling and image-making. His series “After Silence II” takes vessels and architectural forms into large stainless-steel lighting objects, developed from a personal desire to understand his own light and find his spark again. Making the series has also become a way of learning about himself, following an earlier exploration of fragility in “After Silence I”. In this recent interview with GIDA, Emmanuel speaks about creating from an emotional starting point and finding ways to communicate a feeling through materials. He leaves room for people to make their own connections with the sculptures, without deciding in advance what those encounters should mean. Swipe to watch the full interview! @iamisigo Spring/Summer 2027 campaign, “Sacred Ecologies”, ahead of the label’s presentation at Lagos Fashion Week this week. Conceived by creative director Bubu Ogisi (@bubuogisi) the collection draws on Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o’s ‘Wizard of the Crow’ to explore the intersections of ecology, politics and indigenous knowledge. Through sculptural forms informed by the Luba lukasa memory board, Ogisi considers cloth and the body as vessels of knowledge, tracing an ecological imagination in which the reclamation of land is inseparable from the reclamation of cultural identity. “Sacred Ecologies teases out what a vernacular design identity could look like, but through the lens of a contemporary fever dream. Who/what are these bodies? They are because of what their environment is,” the designer and creative director tells MANJU. EXCLUSIVE : For Accra-based multidisciplinary artist Emmanuel Affedzie (@kojoaffedzie) whose practice spans sculpture, fashion, photography and film, light becomes a material in his latest work with LUMINA PROJECTS (@lumina_projects), a production and design studio exploring the space between object, form and function. . Beginning with wearable sculpture and moving towards collectible objects and installations, Affedzie works through material, instinct and experimentation to create forms that sit between documentation and imagination. . “Craft is the continuous effort to evolve and understand the world around me. Creating a system that engages with the world differently. Craft is an extension of the mind, hands and body through material,” he tells MANJU. . Grateful to have my sculptural pieces hold a moment of reflection for the closing exhibition of STOMATA: DR MAHASHE’S OPEN FRAMES and experimental photography by ERIC GYAMFI curated with @itaabbey @fca_ghana We reflected on what this exhibition meant to us individually while engaging in conversations around ERIC GYAMFI’s artistic practice and ideas his works continue to open up. This experience was meaningful to me personally. I met ERIC GYAMFI in 2024 and now few years later, I had an opportunity to share a space with his work in what was my first exhibition featuring his practice. It’s a full circle moment to carry with me. Thank you @itaabbey ❤️❤️❤️ by @kojoaffedzie

@allblackandskin @theweirdcult epic night!! This night felt like walking through Eliasson Olafur’s “The Weather Project” in real time. Feels good to document how light, sound and space become part of a communal experience. Still recovering ❤️‍🩹 by @kojoaffedzie
