A friendship that began in Varanasi brought me into a family celebration in Bengal.
Sayan invited me to experience Durga Puja with his family. First came the immersion of their family’s figure in a pond. Later, I joined the community as they carried their larger figure roughly six kilometres to the river.
Two farewells, one unforgettable invitation.
