My community has always had some of the best teachers.

People who taught us how to survive, how to think, how to push through, and how to believe there was more for us.

Now the next step is becoming the best business leaders, entrepreneurs, professionals, and quality hires.

We need more people from our communities not only getting opportunities — but being prepared to lead when the opportunity comes.

Education gave us the foundation.
Leadership, ownership, and execution have to take us further.

That’s how we strengthen families.
That’s how we build businesses.
That’s how we change communities.

After years of gloom in the shadow of Donald Trump, Narendra Modi, Jair Bolsonaro, and others of their ilk, progressives and liberals around the world are finding cause to celebrate. On Monday, Brazil’s President, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, defeated the far-right challenger, Flávio Bolsonaro, in his country’s Presidential runoff. Between Lula’s victory and events earlier this year in Hungary, where the long-ruling nationalist Prime Minister Viktor Orbán was ousted in elections, the White House has lost two hugely symbolic allies in its broader right-wing global culture war. No clear winner has yet emerged in the Israeli election, in which Trump had endorsed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and which saw a historic turnout of Arab voters. And the U.S. President may be humbled further in next week’s midterms, as Democrats eye taking both the House and the Senate.

At the same time, protests have broken out across the world. People have taken to the streets in India, France, Belgium, Spain, Albania, and Italy; among their demands are access to affordable housing, job opportunities for young people, relief from the cost of living, and greater investment in schools. “There’s no simple narrative bringing together all the separate uprisings,” Ishaan Tharoor writes. But across the world, on the streets and at the ballot box, the right-wing movement is facing a backlash. Read Tharoor’s latest column at the link in our bio. It’s not been the easiest of weeks on the workshop build - it turns out there’s a reason almost no one puts an apex roof on their DIY workshops / garden rooms 😅 - but I had some friendly faces (and more importantly helping hands!) keeping me company!

I talk about the physical impact of doing renovations / garden projects / manual labour solo, quite a bit - but the mental impact can be just as hard some times! There was a moment this week where I sat on the floor of the workshop, staring up at the non existent roof and thought ‘I don’t think I can do this.’

That’s when you need people to pick you up off the floor and tell you to give it one more go. Thanks @wearekingingit for your help! (And to one of my excellent neighbours and his friends) - there is a chance this thing will get a roof before winter! 💪

El Estadio overflows with emotions! 🥹
