Sit down and open your notebooks! It's time for another session of Night School at The Main Cinema

CONTEMPT (LE MÉPRIS)
Dir. Jean-Luc Godard | 103 min
Wed, Nov 11 •7pm
The Night School screening of Contempt will feature a discussion of camera movement and intermediality with Shima Sahranavard, PhD Candidate, Department of French & Italian, University of Minnesota.

Scenes from a marital breakdown between screenwriter (Michel Piccoli) and his wife (Brigitte Bardot), as both become enmeshed in the behind-the-camera struggles of a director (Fritz Lang) and producer (Jack Palance) as they film an adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey.

Restoration: Restored and digitized in 4K by Studiocanal at Hiventy with support from the CNC, from the original 35mm negative, interpositive, and reference print by Raoul Coutard.

Introducing Night School, MSP Film’s new monthly repertory series exploring film history and form. Local experts heighten our appreciation of cinema as an art form, social institution, and object of study. Class is in session the second Wednesday of every month – enroll today!
