☀️ Before solar power arrived in Elan Village, communities lived with almost no access to electricity. Shops closed at sunset, and residents described walking five kilometres to find water. Today, businesses can stay open after dark, children can study at night and solar-powered pumping brings water closer to the community.

🤝 This is electrification done fairly: improving livelihoods and access to essential services while giving communities a say. Residents helped shape the project, and a committee with equal numbers of women and men now oversees maintenance and repairs. A Just Transition must ensure workers and communities have the resources, rights and decision-making power to shape their energy futures.

🌍 As #COP31 approaches, Elan shows a practical example of what is possible. Governments must advance a just and equitable transition away from fossil fuels to 100% renewable energy, with no dangerous distractions and ensure the required support reaches the people who need it.
