Real talk: my first logo was wrong. I knew it, and I kept it anyway. It wasn’t a strategic choice. It was attachment. I made it, so I couldn’t see past it.
Here’s what I didn’t expect. Holding on to it cost me clarity. Every time I put it on something, the business looked like it was still figuring itself out, because it was.
The rebrand forced me to answer a question I’d been dodging: what do I actually stand for? Once I had to say it out loud, the new identity was almost obvious. Letting go of the old mark is what made room for the real one.
I’m curious about you. What’s something you kept way longer than you should have, a logo, a name, a way of doing things, because it felt like yours? Drop it in the comments, and tag someone who needs to hear this.
