“Teach men not to r*pe.” But are we also teaching what consent looks like in practice? We need open conversations about asking, listening, respecting boundaries and recognising when someone wants to stop even in an ongoing relationship. Consent must be freely given, specific and ongoing. Agreeing to one thing doesn’t mean agreeing to everything. If education is the goal, practical examples of healthy, mutually wanted intimacy should be part of the conversation too. Are we giving young people enough clarity?
